Architectural interventions into the historic cores of such cities as Paris, Barcelona, Lyon, and perhaps Bilbao have considerably increased their allure, bringing in streams of tourists and investment. One is encouraged by the thought that good architecture undoubtedly invigorates the inflow of people and goods. Only an individual architectural gesture is able to produce inspiring spaces which, in turn, favour intensified communication between people and enhance the everyday habits and quality of life. It is the uniqueness of those spaces that imparts a sense of belonging and identity to those who use them.
